Fairmont Aircraft Hangar
In collaboration with Scott Builders, we were brought in to design the interior of a private airport hangar nestled in the scenic mountains of Fairmont, British Columbia.
Inspired by the picturesque mountains surrounding the facility, we ensured the views were celebrated and not impeded. The hangar includes pilot suites, offices, meeting rooms, a generous lounge with a bar and reception area, and an executive mezzanine office with expansive views of both the tarmac and the hangar.
Understanding the operational needs of the space, we designed with flexibility and comfort in mind—particularly for pilots arriving at all hours. A key design goal was to achieve low, controllable light levels. We layered dimmable lighting throughout the facility to support a moody, ambient atmosphere, while also accommodating complete darkness where needed for rest.
The material palette leans into a darker, more industrial tone, drawing on aviation-inspired elements. We incorporated dark stone, slate veneer panels, rich leathers, stained concrete, and sleek metals to create a cohesive, tactile environment that balances function and luxury.
